94 The County Airport located in NE Ohio Airport Authority is considering updating our main hangar building, built in 1967, by replacing our doors with a Schweiss hydraulic lift single piece door. One of our current customers is moving to a King Air 200 and the current door opening will not accommodate this size of aircraft. I've attached several files which show the current conditions with the building. The current door is only 57 foot wide x 16 foot opening. The door has 3, 20 foot sections and runs on a track. We are considering a 70 to 80 foot wide Red Power pump door with a 18 foot opening. This door will be south facing. We plan to use local contractors for the demolition and new door erection, including required foundations. We do have to enter into discussions with our tenant regarding the price of this modification and how will recover our costs. To do this, we would like to have an estimate that would provide us with a budgetary cost for the doors, hardware, engineering, and field service to direct the installation. I'm available to answer any questions you may have. The airport board requires a hydraulic lift door. I'm not sure if I can get the clear opening I need with a bifold door. I need a 50' wide clear opening with a minimum height of 14'. Is this possible with a Schweiss door. The door will mount on the 56' wide wall of the building. I would prefer the door posts be below the roof pitch, but they do not necessarily have to be. The inside dimensions are 12'high and 40' 11 1/2\" wide. However, I feel the Schweiss door would be best suited to be hydraulic lift, Red Power hydraulic system, mounted on the top header I beam. I have been talking to various steel frame builders and am not sure if I should go with pole type or ladder frame type construction. From a purely strength consideration for either a bi-fold or one piece hydraulic, which would be the best for your doors? I know your doors work with both types but am told that the pole building is overall stronger than ladder frame but I am not sure. 307 We have some information on a door quote for a hydraulic one piece Schweiss hangar door. On item C, the quote states that total height opening is 20'-0\". There will be 3\" thick insulated metal panel building siding attached to door frame. Will this encroach in upon the 20'-0\" clear opening stated on your spec sheet? Will the door being provided open up any higher than the 20'-0\" clear opening stated? The hangar serves DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft- the tail of that plane is 19'-7\". If we loose 3\" out of the 20'-0\", the tail of the Otter is within 2\" of the overall clearance- which is a bit tight. Please email your response- and I may follow up with a call. Thanks- Michael
